tl;dr morelpaw was born into the first litter of a new queen, grebeflower. she was an overbearing and overprotective mother due to her lack of experience. feeling stifled and craving independence, morelpaw began to distance himself from his mother and littermates, preferring to play alone. after his apprenticeship ceremony, his relationship with his siblings dwindled down to nothing but the average level of familiarity one has with denmates.
morelpaw's talent for tracking became immediately evident on his first day of training, and since then, it has been his bread and butter, so to speak. he flaunts it whenever he can, showing off and finding any opportunity to prove himself possible. his tendency to take charge has gotten him into a significant amount of trouble with his mentor, causing him to boss around the other apprentices, particularly those much younger than him.

"'Morelpaw, do this! Morelpaw, do that! But don't tell other cats what to do. You're not a warrior,'" mocked the slender apprentice as he trudged lightly through the undergrowth, just as he left earshot of his mentor.
"Ugh! How am I the one to blame for the rest of these apprentices not knowing what they're doing? I'm the one who's trying to prevent them from making totally ridiculous mistakes! They may as well make me a warrior on principle, since being lumped in with those other mousebrained apprentices isn't even something they could consider, at this point." He halted in his pawsteps before sitting down and rasping at his ruffled chest fur with his tongue.
"It's not like it's even that early, anyway. I highly doubt there's anything more they could teach me. I mean, sure, fighting is tough, but it's not like I can get much better, and even then, I'm not bad at it or anything." He sniffed irritably before sighing to himself. "When's he going to leave me alone? I was just trying to tell [misc apprentice] what he was doing wrong, is all. I wasn't being bossy, was I?" He shook himself. "Of course I wasn't."
He paused, replaying the events of the morning in his head, along with the lecture his mentor had given him for the billionth time afterward. "I was totally in the right. Why does no one ever see that?"
He stared at the dirt beneath his paws for a few moments, contemplating, before muttering, "I really need to stop talking to myself."[/ul][/ul][/ul]
